Snow and the X

Snow and the X
We got 18 inches of snow from Tuesday night and yesterday. Last night I took the Jaguar out to see how the traction was. I had only one other AWD car an Audi A4, V6 Quattro back in the 90's. Honestly the car's AWD was not impressive it slide and spin wheels like a 2WD. The Jaguar on the other hand is terrific in the snow, all wheels seem to make contact at the same time no wheel spin even with a fast startup. I had to stop half up a hill which was covered with packed snow to let another car by. I said to myself this will be the test I started up normally not to slow but not to fast. The car started moving right away with no wheel spin at all. I am impressed.
Of course back in the 90's there was no traction control stability control. Technology is a great thing sometimes. My X Type does not have stability control and there is no traction control button.

I actually was pretty impressed too. Yesterday we had about 10 inches of snow and the car was grounding out on the snow but just plowed right through it. I've got 4 steel rims and snow tires because the sport tires suck in the snow. But I still am amazed at the average idiot driver up here. All seasons, probably 3 or 4 years old and they go out in snow thinking they won't have an issue. Little 10 degree hills and their cars are sideways.

Adam, I have fun with my car. I love doing 4 wheel drifting on the slippery roads. You can develop a pretty good feel for what the car can do when doing this. I am rather impressed with the ability of the car to get around. I get around a lot easier than most people. But then, I am in AWD and they are only in 2wd.

We normally get a lot of snow in the winter here in north eastren Pennsylvainia, and since I've had my cat. I go in the snow no matter what. Although, when it's really deep snow I run my V-10 2500 Dodgeram, but with that I can watch the gas gauge move while I'm driving....LOL Nothing like my cat when getting great gas mileage.

Maybe its just me, but I am coming from a long history of Audi's and I personally thought my X-Type wasnt that good in the snow... Mine does have the Traction Control and I just seemed to slide no matter what speed I drove??
Do I have something turned on or off that shouldnt be? I actually thought the car performed BETTER in the snow with the DSC turned OFF...
Am I nuts?
