Not sure what you are trying to get at, so, I am going to take a stab at this picture.

First off, the color of the plug is about what you want. Possibly a little lighter would be ideal, but the cylinder is burning about right.

As for the gap, it is a little excessive (guessing to be around 0.070"). But, that is fairly normal for a plug that has been in the engine for quite awhile.

You may want to look at the valve cover gasket as there is a little bit of oil on the upper threads (those near the bottom of the picture that you are showing). If you get too much oil in the plug well, it can lead to a misfire condition. But, some oil is not uncommon. So, you need to see if it was only a single cylinder that looked like this or if all of the cylinders did. having oil in the #1 cylinder is not too uncommon simply due to normal spillage that occurs when adding oil to the motor. But this can normally be minimized by using a funnel.

If I didn't cover your what you are after, let me know and I will assist at that point.

I'll play. It looks like a spark plug with 100K miles on it. I noticed the burned porcelain at the bottom of the pic. Along with the rust and charred oil on the threads, and extended electrode gap, I'd say the plug is spent like a Payday loan, but that doesn't tell us much about the motor, because with new plugs, it might run good.

Also, the burnt oil was at the top of the threads, so it probably seeped in from the top. sloppy pour while filling the crank case as Thermo mentioned, and not an omen of actual engine trouble.

Good luck. Did you get your plugs changed?

Thanks Guys. I didn't get to add all what i was after but you both pretty much told me what i wanted to know. All six plugs were in a identical condition. I also changed out the two upstream 02 sensors while i had the chance.
I couldn't see any oil seepage into the spark plug wells and they were pretty much clean and clear.
One thing that does concern me is that on both valve covers the aluminum around two of the mounting bolts has corroded and become flaky. Again no visible signs of oil seepage.
I rarely go past 5000 miles before a full synthetic oil change, i do try to keep it at 3000 miles, as i spend 95% of my driving time on the interstate averaging 500 a week.

abritinga, like i mentioned, those plugs look fairly normal. If the wells didn't have a lot of oil in them, then I would not worry about the oil on the threads. There is a lot of minor leakage like you were seeing. I would not worry about valve cover gaskets.

As for the flaking valve covers, as long as the metal is not visibly thinner, i would not worry about it. Even aluminum "rusts" (aka, oxidizes) and that is what you are seeing. I would not worry about that. If you have a question, take a picture of the area of concern and I will give you my opinion on it.
