Hi guys, I was listening to music in my car today and realized that the sound quality wasn't that good.

I was wondering if anything was wrong with the speakers so I used the EQ on the touchscreen to channel the soon to only the left and right sides and I noticed that the right side is barely playing any sound. It sounds like it's whispering.

It does this on radio and cassette. What could be the problem?

 

ex53436, this can be caused by 3 things. The more likely is bad speakers on the right side of the car. You can prove this by getting a spare speaker and plugging it in in place of the factory speaker. If the volume returns, confirms a bad speaker.

After that, you are down to a wiring issue. The problem is either a high resistance in the wiring (not very likely) or the amplifier inside of the radio is going and it has started to fail for the right speakers. Unfortunately, without some higher end diagnostic equipment and electrical know how, it is hard to differentiate between the two. I would say to replace the radio and then see what you have at that point.

 

Yikes, this sounds more serious than I thought. I'm hoping a cable has just popped out somewhere.

Do you have the high-end audio in your car and what year is your car? The high-end speakers apparently have the tendency for glue that holds the magnet to fail and for the magnet to drop down.

Just had three of my speakers replaced due to that problem.
