Default sport mode problem

04 3.0 w/52,000mls. I have been driving in sport mode. I noticed today, the light on the mode button was not on and when pushed in, light still will not illuminate. I am wondering if possibly the mimi lamp has burned out. I wish there was an indication light on dash to show when the tranny was is in sport. Anyone else have this problem? If so, how was it rectified?

I never had any problems with my sport mode light not working. Can you tell that sport is on/off or not? You should be able to notice the extension of the rpm range when shifting, if you didn't know already.

IIRC sport mode automatically shuts off when you turn the car off if that is what you were worried about. In the future you should use the j-gate as that is way more fun anyways!

sport mode doesnt shut off with key, only traction control. And I always recommend staying in sport for those times you inadvertantly pull out in front of someone and need to get out of their way faster. Sport in everyday driving shifts about 500rpm higher. But at full throttle the trans will downshift from 5th to 3rd, instead of 4th giving you much faster acceleration. useally no light is a switch fault. Light staying on is many times the shifter assembly, but depends on the model

traction always is enabled with key cycle, you have to disable it with the switch, and then the next key cycle its back on
