Default Starting issues

Hi guys,

Starting to regret buying this car after only 2 months of ownership. It has done 61000 and has had no expense spared with regard to servicing etc and I have all the receipts to prove it.

Over the past few weeks it has taken longer to fire up from hot or cold and the starter is a bit on the noisy side for my liking but still spins it up at a good rate. So I decided to get a second hand starter to try but as it's a auto it looks like I will have to take half the top of the engine away to get at it so decided to leave that for another day. I also got a replacement cps ( I know there are two ) to try and see if it would make any difference to the starting issue. On swapping out the sensor for bank 1 it wouldn't start at all and left a 0355 code ( as far as I can remember ) which I cleared with a code reader. So I thought i'll put the original back on and it started after a fashion after cranking for about 10 secs. Left it for 1/2 hour to do something else and on returning it wouldn't start again so I removed the plug on the sensor to see if it was dirty or corroded but it was shiny and clean and I followed the cable along as far as I could to see if it was chafing on something but couldn't see anything amiss. When I reconnected the plug it started after about 5 mins of cranking so I went on a run and it ran perfectly. Stopped for an hour and took 2 x 20 second cranks before it would start.

Question is what the hell is wrong? No codes and the battery is still pushing 12.8 volts with the engine off even after all the cranking that has taken place.

Thoughts please.

Hi Firefly,
Can I advise you to introduce yourself in the new members section here?

New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Also, if you can edit your signature to show your model/engine/spec/year/petrol/deisel, you will attract the right attention to sort the issue?

And welcome to the forum, Firefly, you will get sorted, regards, Stu
