steering wheel
Summary: I want put 04 steering wheel on 02.
Extended story:
I have a 2002 jaguar x type 3.0
My leather steering wheel has the air bag thing where it pops up a little bit. The color is fading and worst of all, my center logo is damaged.
I was at the junkyard today. I seen a 2004 Jaguar x type 3.0 that has a AWESOME wood steering wheel. I removed the airbag and was about to remove the steering wheel. Then discovered the largest torque bit I had was a t40. I needed a bigger torque bit.
Before I go back and finish pulling the steering wheel, will it fit my steering wheel.
They both have cruise controls, radio controls, phone controls on steering wheel. But the button layout is different.

the later steering wheel is a direct replacement for the earlier one, the controls on the lhs will work correctly.however the cruise controls on the latter version send different resistor values to the cruise control so it needs a few changes. the main one being the on signal. if you intend to make the change I'll post the changes you need to make to the pcb on the rhs of the new steering wheel. warning it involves resoldering surface mounted resistors.

I went back to junkyard and finished pulling steering wheel.
I apologize if you didn't think in had searched. I had done a lot of reading on multiple threads and forums. I was confused because dealership said no. Some users say it works as is, others say it needs modification. One user said he kept the old on off switch and mounted it to dash.
I would like to have cruise controls. Though I do not use it . I like everything to work. I purchased car as a clunker and have fixed or upgraded about everything I can.
So if I go the soldering route what is it I have to do? Or is there a way to Mount the old on off switch somewhere discrete?
I appreciate the help.

OK, after doing much reading I found
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...issues-128152/
I didn't find it from sites in built search function, I found while on Google.
It is a 4yr old thread.
He talks about dremaling out and adding another wheel to make everything. Work.
Has anyone done this besides him. Any more tips or maybe has someone taken more other pics. Details or tips. I am going to install the new steering wheel next weekend when I have some more time. Thank you.
