Default Steering wheel wobble

Hello
Jaguar X type 2007 diesel 2.2

Would appreciate any views / Idea’s what is the cause and possible fix of this problem is
.
At very slow speeds say 10 to 20 MPH I am experiencing a a very slight steering wheel wobble side to side .

I took to my garage who had a quick look for me tyres not out of shape so suggested may be the wheels needed to be balanced so got the balancing done they did need doing . But has not recified the problem the car is not pulling to one side or another but had the tracking checking checked no adjustment needed . Types in good condition and correct tyre pressure .

Thanks

I would still be looking at a bent rim, or bad tier. Balancing would have no effect at all going 20 MPH. But it did help with the mechanic's boat payment.

This could very well be the early signs of a tire going bad. Move one tire from the back to the front to see if this helps. Doing one at a time should help in finding a single bad tire. But they could both be bad too.

+1 to Larry's advise: confirm the wheels are not bent.

2 wheels on my 2002 X-Type were bent by the former owner; 1 was 'repaired' with a weld. Yet a major tire shop, which sells only tires & rims, did not notice the bent rims when they mounted and balanced new tires.

I didn't notice any wobble in the steering wheel, but the new tires made an uneven, oscillating hum on smooth asphalt at slower speeds. So I returned to the same tire shop where we discovered the bent rims when re-balancing the tires. They said bent rims are a common problem on performance cars like Jag's, BMW's and Mercedes because the rims are thinner aluminum (yet didn't notice my 2 bent rims the 1st time).

Now, when my tires are rotated & balanced, I ask the technician to confirm the rims are true. If you pay attention, it's easy to spot an out-of-round rim while they spin on the balancing machine.

A couple matching, replacement rims from eBay for ~$100-120 each solved the problem.

Good luck.
