Hi,
A really strange one that has me stumped but hopefully one of you enthusiasts will know...
I was visiting my girlfriends parents house and they have one of the fancy garage doors that is opened and closed with a key fob. I pressed the shut button on the garage fob and the lock button on my x type keys approximately the same time and neither did anything. My car key stopped responding and has not worked since, I've just been using the spare. The garage was fine after approx 30 seconds. After this my dip beams don't work though main beam and fog lights do.

I have looked for any blow fuses or any obvious signs but I can't see anything wrong and nothing shows up on my code reader. Does anyone know what the issue could be?

Stopped working as in what? Doesn't lock/ unlock doors? Doesn't set PATS system? Doesn't start car?

 

Hi Dell,

The buttons do not do anything when pressed though they still work fine on my spare key.
With the key that stopped working I can open the door with the manual lock and then get in and start the car.
This must mean that he immobiliser is still working however it sets off the alarm when I do this.

 

If the immobilizer works, that's good news. It sounds to me as if the battery died or the fob (lower portion push pad part) somehow lost it's "synching" to the car. I would replace the battery then search this forum on how to pair the key to the keypad functions (door lock/unlock, boot release, etc.).

That's excellent thank you, I've replaced the battery and followed the video and the key now works perfectly however my dip beams still don't.
Main beam and fog lights work fine. One sidelight works but I never use these anyway.
Strange part is I can turn dip beam on with the now working key but not using the light controls in the car.
Would have any idea what would cause this or where to start looking? Fuses all seem fine
