Default super cold temperature start up and fail

Yesterday was -13 Fahrenheit (-25 Celcius)
My 2004 3 litre started up in the frigid temperature with minor groans and seemed to idle nicely for a ten minute warm up. It suddenly just stalled and now won't start. I have no battery power as it seems to be dead. What happened? I had to leave town and won't be able to revisit this problem until Saturday.
thanks

Wrong forum but I guess battery died due to:
1. greater load than supplied idling (this is normal)
2. the cold

Note: batteries are very hard to charge at low temp.

Cold kills batteries. My ex brother-in-law and nephew live in North Pole, Alaska and in addition to the block heaters installed in their autos, they have battery warmers, too. He said in extreme cold, a brand new battery will fail.
