Default Swap is Complete -- Lincoln LS Engine in My X-type Jag.

First off - My 2002 Jaguar X-Type is a Original 2.5L car...Now has a 3.0L Lincoln LS Engine.......Runs Great ! Lots of Power! ..Low miles toooooo...Sweet!

The Swap:

2004 Lincoln LS 3.0L with 28K miles (super low miles)
Payed $100 for a complete block!! minus trans.

Keep your old engine until your completely done with the swap because you will need a few items from it.

Items Needed from old engine:

keep your old wire harness
Oil Pan
Oil Pick-up
the camshaft that controls the water pump
water pump
oil filter mount
a/c braket
Left Head Valve cover
fly wheel
Exhaust Manifolds
Harmonic Balancer
intake
fuel rail
front timing cover
Center Block water outlets/Inlets

thats about it.

Helpful info:
all four Camshafts on the Lincoln engine had same part #'s Stamped on it as my Jaguar engine.

Sensors( Crank, Cams ) are a Match in #'s

VVT the same

The Lincoln LS 3.0L is a total match with just a few parts thats different , just keep in mind that the Lincoln engine was not mounted sidewards as in the Jaguar.

.................................................. ...............................................

Removal of old engine:

If you want to drop the whole frontend its totally up to you, but i think that is a hard way of doing things and risk getting seriously hurt as you have to jack the front way way up.

I went from the top, just moved wire harness to the side, removed trans bolts and torque converter bolts, front engine mount, exhaust and lift away! its tight so go SSSLLLOOWW..

Here is the pictures of the lincoln LS engine before the tear down:

Left Head Difference on the Water pump cam, the lincoln engine has its water pump on the front timing cover. ( you will need to swap your camshaft, or if you want a challenge & know how to get that pressed end shaft off you could just swap that )

looks good the,i know that the auto gearbox on the x type have 2 variants to withstand the extra torque,i would hold onto that ls pan might be able to sell it to a tranny shop they tend to snap the lower tabs off when replacing gearboxes. you can recoup some of your cost.

Thanks h20boy, hope it helps anyone out there wanting to do this swap, this was really easy if you have some time and the tools.

BTW the car runs great! Ive been driving it every day since the swap no problems at all..

my last thing i did on my car was taking a plastic razor and took that 2.5L logo off my trunk

Wow... looks like that took some work! What's the difference in horsepower between the 2.5 liter and the 3.0 liter?

Default xj8 switch

Shouldn't that engine fit in a xj8 also. Has anyone ever replaced one.
Just wondering in case mine goes out.

Having the lincoln ls parts to be swapped there is kinda interesting. I think that learning these kinds of steps would be very interesting to know and to learn. Hope that all is well after the swap.

Congrats. ***** K, looks like a job well done -- and very satisfying as you drive along since you know it's by your own efforts. AND, the bigger the engine, the more cars seem to be fetching when sale time comes.
Cheers, Leedsman.
