Default Tailgate window Switch Dilemma

HI All,

My 2004 X Type Estate 2.5 L Petrol, has amongst all of its issues, the need for a new tailgate window switch. Couple of issues specific to this;
The switch is open, cannot get it to make/close. So I am looking at the new BMW switches on Ebay, is there any benefit in buying more expensive ones? Any recommended know to work?

Second I used the screwdriver in the lock to open the tailgate window, managed to click the lock closed and now cannot trip the lock open again, any advise.

Thanks in advance

I have had the X-type estate/wagon for 6 years and today I learned the tailgate window opens. Well of course it doesn't open, but it did once. I had no idea.

Here's some "tailgate inspiration"

Taken at last week's Huntington Beach Concours.
