Tell me your dealer stories, good or bad
I'll share an interesting experience I had yesterday.
My 06 X-Type has 78km and still under factory warranty.
I am fortunate to live in Toronto where there are many Jag dealerships to choose from so I won't mention delarships to protect the guilty or innocent but it does pay to shop around.
I needed an oil change and wanted an 80km check over.
I drove to the dealer where I purchsed the car. It looked busy on Friday afternoon and he said it could be done by end of day (5pm, it was 1pm).
Here is what the Jag warranty manual states needs to be done at 80km:
- Check/Top up:
brake fluid
coolant
power steering fluid
washer fluid
battery electrolyte
- Replace engine oil(getting done)
- Check under hood and body for leaks
- check drive belt for tension/wear
- inspect brake pads
- check windshield wiper blades
- check tire pressure and tread
That's it! Service consultant told me it was 2 hours work and would cost $400-$500 before and parts or tax. To dance around the car?
Outside of oil change I could do this myself for 0 in 1/3 the time. I told him I would come back when I had more time ( a lie).
I drove to another dealership actually located closer to my house. I walked in and asked the Service Consultant if they could do an oil chang e(now about 3pm). He said it would take about an hour. I hadn't been there before and I gave him my ownership. He plugged the VIN into Jaguar Canada computer and saw it had extended warranty until 2012. He told me they could do the warranty work when needed. Perfect
Not only is this probably the classiest Jag dealership in the city, the service was already exceptional.
Here is what the final bill states:
Filter-Oil
Oil 5w30
Window washer fluid
Perform check all fluids and lights, lube doors and latches, set tire pressure frt brake pads 8mm rear pads 5mm
Front left side marker bulb does not work-renew (N/C)
$126.05 + tax.
Guess which dealership is getting the warranty work.
