1984 xj6 had a very operational sunroof until today. First time out and absolutely no response when pushing the open rocker button. No noise no movement, nada.
Could thisbe a fuse issue, or do I have to get a mechanic to check out the system.

I would be looking for a blown fuse. You will have much better luck if you post in the XJ6 forum. The members here are knowledgeable about the X-Type.
The right place to post is : https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-i-ii-iii-16/

Hopefully one of the moderators will stop by and move your post to the right forum area.

There is a lock-out switch at the top of the switch panel -this controls current to the windows and sunroof switches in your car. It is very easy to press this toggle switch by mistake -and that is probably what happened. If this is not the problem, then the switch itself may have carbonned interior contacts and this is the cause of slow moving or inoperative windows and sunroof. You must remove the cubby liner under the armrest, and remove the single screw at the top of the window switch panel. This allows access to the switch connectors. You can test the sunroof switch by simply transferring the connector from a known operating windows switch.
