Default There's a spark in the air

Dear All,
I'm getting an intermittent P0420 code in my 2003 X-Type. You can read my earlier thread, and you guys were right, the engine code did NOT disappear as if by magic. In reading all of the collected wisdom here, it sounds like 02 sensor replacement is the logical first step to a cure. I even have the 02 sensor standoff spacers; are they worth installing? Do they work, or are they just more snake oil?
I also want to change spark plugs, and I understand that removing the intake manifold is required to remove and replace the spark plugs in the rear bank. Is this also the best time to replace the 02 sensors, with the intake manifold removed? Can the sensors be easily accessed from beneath the car?
Thank you,
Mike
