Transfer case right hand seal

Transfer case right hand seal
Hello all,
I did read a lot on this forum related to the transfer case but I am not sure about the replacement procedure of the right hand output seal of the transfer case. My question: by removing the right hand halfshaft and the plastic protection cover on the transfer case shaft is it then possible to replace the seal without removing the transfer case shaft at all or not more than 20 cm.
Thanks!

The axle shaft that goes through the transfer case must be removed.
If you just pull it out you will damage the inner seal with the retaining clip on the splined end of the axle shaft.
Pull the transfer case, remove the retaining clip on the end and gently slide the shaft out.
Now you can replace the output shaft seal.

Hello Bob,
Thank you for answering this question. I hoped to replace the seal without removing the TC and to push the seal over the end of the TC shaft. I didn't have a look at JTIS how much work is involved in removing the TC. For an amateur mechanic is it possible to do it at home on the driveway?
Kind regards
