Default Transmission Fluid

I know this has been bandied about ad infinitum but I am looking for an objective data point here.

Has anyone changed their transmission fluid to anything other than the original Jatco fluid and then put a substantial amount of mileage on their car? I have found no fluid that specifically meets the Jag/Ford spec (WSS-M2C922-A1). I have emailed Mobil 1 and Valvoline and they extol the virtue of their product with the caveate that I should follow the manufacturer's recommendation. So, no help with the question of compatability and spec.

So, anybody with a good experience with aftermarket transmission fluid?

Thanks for the info. What specific brand of Dextron VI did you use?

When you changed it, did you just drain and refill the amount you drained or did you attempt to flush out all the original fluid?

Not to complicate the subject but I have also read where people have used the castrol import multi vehicle blend that you can find at any car store! Any comments

Sorry, had to sober up....
I completely drained it by disconnecting the cooler line and forcing all the fluid out, to include the torque converter. Takes approx 10 mins or so. Completely drained, it takes apporx 9 qts. (8.3 or something like that)

I think there is only one version of Dex VI

lmfao...I thought we'd have some progress after a few months, but alas it seems not.

Lol, Dennis used to give these real nice long explanations of our current debacle, I see he's reduced his response to the weekly tranny fluid inquiry with just a picture!
