Transmission shifting issues
I have a 1993 Jag XJ6 and apparently according to the shop I have a sticky valve in the transmission. The light comes on then the shifting becomes stiff like it has a B&M competition shift kit in it. I turn off the engine and restart and its ok for a while. I had a shopdo a flush and add 12 Qts of Lucas synthetic trans oil. Its is still doing what it did before when the engine gets warm after a few miles. I think it has something to do with the relay on the firewall. The problem is I move the relays around and it works fora while and then the light comes on again. I can hear the relay click or something as the light appears and then the erratic shifting begins. I'm a little skeptical of the diagnoses because it doesn't act like a stuck valve. The light came on today when there wasn't any shifting. I was in third gear at about 35 mph when it came on. I will add that this symptom started the day after I had the fuel pump replaced. Could this be related or just a coincidence? BTW Battery is in the trunk and I opened up the trunk panels and checked for any wiring problems but didnt see any. Any help would be appreciated.M Ruddell

RE: Transmission shifting issues
Well I know you know this is the X-Type thread..But since yours has the X in j6..what the hell..
Sorry can't help..but if you're getting positive indications by fiddling with this relay..My nextstep would be to inspect the connector for corrosion and loose parts/wires and also replace the relay thingy..
