Default Type of Spark plugs.

So I'm try a figure out the best type of spark plugs to buy for my 02 X-type 3.0 sport. I went to a place that works on them they told me that the plugs were 29$ a piece. Gotta be some cheaper I can get at a part store. Plz help.

The engine basically a Ford 'Duratec' V6.
The OE plugs were Autolite double platinum (I THINK).

I would use a Platinum or Iridium plug for long lasting use. (the plugs under the 'A' bank are difficult to change)

I bought the autolite double platinum from rockauto.com for around $3-6 a piece. It was awhile ago though, so I don't know the exact price, but it should save you some cash instead of paying that much per plug.

Countri, save your money and stick with a basic double platinum plug. Going with the fancy plugs (Bosch +4's, Splitfire, etc) do nothing for modern day cars other than lightening your wallet. All modern day cars use a high energy coil, so, the plugs make a great spark with a basic plug. But, please note that I mention a double platinum plug. You can stick in the $0.99 plugs and the engine will run, but you will find that in another 20K miles or so, you will be changing the plugs again because they will be worn out. Not that changing the plugs is hard, but it isn't a 15 minute job like it was in the older cars.

Check out:

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...15034|L3*16071 : $2.99 each

These are just 2 examples of what is available at a place like Advance/Checkers/Schucks. One word of caution though, the plugs are pre-gapped, but check the gap anyways. I know that Jaguar changed the recommended gap for our cars, just can't find what the new gap is. Hopefully one of the other members can help you out.
