Default Unsure what these symtpoms could mean... (fixed)

Got into the car, turned the key, and the engine sounded like it wanted to turn over, but wasn't. I tried it again, same thing, only now the car's speedometer and RPM needles shudder rapidly back and forth after I stop trying to start the car. They do this every time now. It's the darndest thing, I've never seen that before. All the electronics work just fine otherwise.

My first thought is to check the battery, but with all the electronics working it may not be the battery. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Trying to stay positive, at least I probably won't have to go into work now.

EDIT: Nevermind, just having it towed to dealer. Thought I'd want to try this myself, but eh, whatever.

Battery is probably just too low to function normally but has enough juice to power some of the electronics. New battery/recharge is probably all you need.

And we have a bingo. For those of you who like closure...$240 for a battery, installed. Immediate problem solved. Pretty uneventful, hope you all aren't too put off by my lame post. But, you were my first thought..."wonder what the forum suggests". So, that's something.

Peace.

Hey Anda, sorry to hear bout your issues and glad you dropped by to ask here.......looks like blaydes called it right.

I'm guessing getting it towed to the dealer had costs and maybe the battery was more expensive than you could have got elsewhere too, but, if you need it fixed there n then thats the price you have to pay I guess.

Glad you're all up n running again and thanks for coming back to post up about the fix........much appreciated

No cost for the tow as roadside assistance is covered in my warranty. And there wasn't even a tow. The tow guy showed up and we decided to try jumping my car first, which came to life as if nothing happened. Drove it to the dealer, was given a loaner car and the issue has been fixed.

Andahaion, if you ever need any assistance with your car, I am an hour south of you. Give me a PM and I am sure we can get your fixed up in no time. I'm sure it will be fun to meet face to face to put a name with a face.
