Talking update to old post "loud grinding noise".

I haven't posted anything in a long time, but I finally fixed my xtype.
The noise was a bad left side wheel bearing and half shaft.
In case anyone has to replace a wheel bearing, take it from me, IT SUCKS!
Jaguar has 8 specialty tools you have to get just to do it.
I refused to spend $ on tools that I'll use just once.
Instead I did it with a grinder,bench vise,torch,chisle,brass hammer,and a part from the old bearing. Yeh, I'm a caveman,but I saved about $2000 in parts and labor!
Changed the TC fliud and half shaft too.
FYI, The half shaft was $117.00 and bearing $31.00.
If anyone wants to how to do it, Just ask. Thanks all for a great forum.

Hi,

Are you saying that changing a wheel bearing from an Xtype is hell!? O no!
My Left Rear wheel bearing needs to be replaced. The diagnosis was that it needed to be adjusted! No can do isn't it?
So far, the info I got is that the part would cost NZ$600 and was also told once we have the part, it is not that complex to put in place! Do you challenge this statement?

Beside that, would you share where you found the part, confirm it's cost and if yours was a front or rear bearing change. My babe is front wheel drive and I also understood the front would be more complex and expensive.. .

Thanks for feedback
