Default Upgrade to Radio unit in 2003 X-type

I'm looking to upgrade my wife's radio/cd/climate control unit to a Navigation/touch screen/cd/heated seats unit from another 2003 X-type. Does anyone know if I need to do anything special to make it work? How would i obtain the radio code? The one I'm looking at also has heated seat which I currently don't have in my existing unit, if changed would I have heated seats? I know the dealer pre-wire a lot of this stuff and can turn on if purchased. Any information would be helpful!

jlpatton, hopefully I can give you the answers that you seek (granted, may not be what you want to hear).

The easier question to answer is the heated seat bit. Unfortunately, you are not going to gain heated seats by simply adding the switches. There are different seat part numbers between heated and non-heated seats. The big difference being that the heated seats have a heating element imbedded in them where the non-heated seats don't have this. So, if you want heated seats, this is going to mean either finding a set of heat seats to put into your vehicle or buying the heating element and then stripping your seats down to add the heating element into the seat.

As for upgrading the radio, you are going to need a few more modules. Specifically there is a unit for GPS reception and then you will also need the DVD player for in the trunk to allow access to the Nav DVD. The rest of the wiring should be there, but then, I am also running off of memory here. Upgrading to the factory Nav system is rather involved and is not a simple plug and play thing.
