Default Upgrade stereo to factory navigation system

Ok, I have a 2002 X-type with the 9 speaker system and the 6 disc changer in the trunk, I do not have the phone option or navigation. I would like to buy a touch screen navigation unit off ebay or where ever I can find one to replace the unit I have, and possibly add power seats as well. I would also like to get the Dension Gateway 500 so that I can have more options to connect different audio sources. My question is does anybody know what all it entails to switch out my unit to the navigation unit, is it a simple plug and play and add a GPS antenna or is it more involved? I would just like to know before I spend hundreds of dollars on the unit to find out its brain surgery lol. Thanks in advance

There is a massive thread explaining all you need to know about retrofitting the factory SatNav into the X-Type HERE

And have a look HERE and HERE regarding the seats.

You must change over the sensor in the passenger seat from your old one.

Unfortunantly I didn't find this post a year ago when I was upgrading the audio on my 2002 X-Type. The general conscience at that time on this forum was that it was too expensive to do this mod. I did investigate with a Jag dealer and they quoted me more than $10,000 do do it. I went with a nice aftermarket system instead.

Ya I did more research after posting this and im thinking I will probably go with an aftermarket double din setup. I just wish I could find some that looked nice, I saw a couple that looked ok, I also really like the idea of putting two kicker 6.5" subs in the rear deck that somebody on here did. mjlaris, do you happen to have any pics of yours in your car?

Forget the dealers...

Spielnicht recently retrofitted the OEM SatNav into his car. I don't recall exactly how much in the end but I think it was around $700 in parts?

You will usually find the bits cheaper in the UK.

It's an Alpine INA-W900, with XM Radio, HD Radio, iPod, Nav, touch svreen, steering wheel controls, etc. See attached photo,
