Default Vented Brake Rotors - Yes or No?

About time to do brakes on my '03 X-TYPE. Any thoughts on installing vented rotors? What pads do you recommend? How difficult a job is this? THANKS!

Easy job. Slotted/dimpled EBC's are run by several members on this board with good results. Pad selection varies widely. Do a search and you'll find a ton of info on this topic.

I did a whole thing on brakes. It will answer a lot of your questions and you will find a few good tips in there.

Jagnut, switching over to slotted (and/or cross drilled) rotors is very easy. The fronts are the easiest in that you simply have to push the piston back into the caliper. The rear brakes are a little more difficult only because you have to twist and push at the same time to make the piston go back into the caliper. Of note, it is easiest if you crack the vent port on the caliper a little as you push the piston back in. On the rears, it is about the only way you will get the piston back in (unless you are built like Hulk Hogan, even then).

I have cross drilled/slotted rotors on my car and they do make a difference. I went with ceramic pads and if you are not careful, you will slide right out of the seat when you brake.

Fitted my X Type with ceramic pads and turbo grooved discs (thats the ones with dimples and grooves) all around. All from EBC...huge difference to braking and confidence when knowing you can stop wghen you want
