Ventilation stuck on recirculate

Default Ventilation stuck on recirculate

Has anyone experienced (and hopefully resolved) an issue where the ventilation manifold (?) seems to be stuck on recirculate even when the 'recirculate' button is pressed on and off? In the past, when i turn the recirculate 'on', you can hear the manifold close and the air coming out of the vents increases and seems to make more noise. However, this week i noticed something strange, pressing the recirculate button doesnt seem to do anything anymore? The recirculate light is still working as it glows on and off. I believe it's stuck 'on', because driving behind a smoking truck usually results in being able to smell the exhaust fumes, but yesterday i couldn't smell a thing.

Suggestions or solutions would be most welcome.

kc88, this is a known issue with our cars. Hopefully some else can post the TSB for the fix to this. In short, you will need to access the cabin filter and then with the recirc turned off, give the recirc flap a little push and it will open again. As for the fix, I seem to recall it is pretty easy to do, but don't recall what all you need to do.

I uploaded hundreds of TSBs but some are hiding somewhere??

Here is a blend door fix that sometimes works for a while.

Sometimes the glue fails and the 'box' has to be replaced. The air blend doors are not sold separately.

Hi Thermo, i just re-read your post after reading the TSB and you mention accessing the 'cabin filter', which sounds a significantly easier thank going through the whole TSB. Do you have a TSB or diagram showing how to get the the cabin filter and what the air blend door looks like? Thanks in advance
