Default What is this for?

Dear all,
I am so sorry to post such a dumb question. I tried my best to google it down, but I dont even know what do I look for.
I recently noticed that in the boot of my 2003 sedan (3.0 automatic), on the right side of the spare wheel compartment, something is missing. On the other side, there is the towing eye. But what belongs here? It sure looks like it was carved for a specific reason...
Any ideas?

Many thanks
Laci

That is where you should keep the socket for the locking wheel nuts if you use them.

Oh, great, many thanks! Does this mean that the car had those nuts originally? Or they are just there always?

Yes the car would come with locking wheel nuts when it was new but a lot of people would change them for normal wheel nuts as they were prone to causing wheel removal problems or the special removal socket being lost.

I NEVER saw a factory wheel lug lock in any Jaguar when I worked at the dealer here in Texas. (up until 2006)
The parts dept never got any either as far as I remember.

They must have been supplied to other markets around the world?
