So the time has come to not be my regular polite personality!

THE PATCH IS A SOFTWARE FIX PATCH!!

Can you get that through your head? A SOFTWARE REPAIR PATCH!!

In laymen's terms = they released a version, it had bugs, the "patch" repaired the SOFTWARE BUGS!! Got it now? Then move on......

Thank you Dell.... I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but to correct my problem obviously the patch (installed) along with everything else suggested must be accomplished. Yes, I understand it is software and if it were not needed along with checking the negative grounds then the ALLDATA notice from Jaguar should have simply stated "check your grounds" period, nothing else needed.

It says clean contacts while using (at that time) the software (old version w/software patch) to check and clear the faults, not repair the problem. It also speaks about hooking up the Jaguar power source while doing so. This was/is to ensure a constant reliable power feed while checking and clearing the fault(s).

Dell, thanks for putting up with me! I now get it finally.... if I had known that all the software was doing was logging into my ECM to clear the codes.... well I can do that with my code reader. Why didn't the dealer tell me that? They knew I had a code reader and could clear faults. Oh well, another lesson learned. So now that I have your full attention I trust if you have read through everything I have done.... well what should I do next? How do I check the catalytic converter to see if it is clogged or not? Or is there a different direction to go at this point?

Again, thank you, thank you... didn't mean to get under your skin!

Reread all the posts. So at this point you still need to read the fuel trims yourself and post them here. Don't rely (as stated before) on someone else. The other thing was upper AND lower gaskets, where I only see you replaced lower. Have you replaced or checked the IMT gaskets and cleaned the MAF? Then clear all the codes and monitor. Post back the results.

Dell, thanks for such a prompt reply. Upper and lower intake manifold gaskets are done. O rings for intake manifold sensors are done .MAF has been cleaned several times and today I even bought a used one for $10 to check against the original. As to the fuel trims B Rahal and Foreign Traffic (independent) both said the fuel trims are in range. I will try to get specifics next week. So that is where we are now.

Again each time I did a fix, I reset the ECM and each and every time after several drive cycles they have all returned... now new codes, but the same ones. And how do I read fuel trims on my own?

You said you have a code reader. Torque or other apps allow you to monitor fuel trims.

Pay attention to his posting of correctly torquing as the Jag is very sensitive to this also.

Update, Update! For all of you folks who tried your best to be of help it turns out that my many misfire codes and P1316 code while suggesting a true misfire situation and as I thought some sort of software situation were due to.... can you guess?

I am driving home after a 3 hour business trip and only about 5 miles from home (existing CEL on and I lost my surpentine belt. Had the "X" towed 4 miles to my local "car" guy who upon putting it up on the rack to check all pulleys found that the crank case sensor un plugged... due to the belt coming off... maybe? Anyhow ordered a new belt and sensor and all the codes have now disappeared.

So "walla" and I wonder why no one, dealer, special independent foreign car shop, friends who tried to offer their knowledge thought of this> Doesn't matter, its running just as before, but no CEL or Codes. End of story.
