wheel bearing and more..

So after my 3000km ski trip, My noisy wheel bearing got worse. I am at 160 000 km now.
I was in at the dealer today and they put it up on the hoist and now it is quite clear that the LF bearing is super dead.. the wheel moved more than half an inch when we wiggled it with the car in the air.
The RF is also has some play but not as much. they suggesnt changing both.
I have the service history that shows the LF was changed less than a year ago at 130 000 km.
the RF was changed a hear and a half ago at 116 000 km. (warranty ended at 80 000 km)
Not stellar life of a dealer installed bearing.. let alone that the original bearings did not last either.
I think that for sure the LF will be changed for free... cuz there should be a 1 year guarantee on that. Not sure about the RF .. i may suggest that there may have been an issue with the tools or procedures used at the other dealer.
On top of that my fuel economy readout is optomistic by over 20% , the range function gets all screwy once the light is on. and also the tank needs only just over 40 litres to fill when the light comes on .. it should have an over 60 litre tank. something is fish there..
Also the outside temp reads wrong.. I wonder if they can figure that out:?

they never cease to amaze me..
so I have the invoice showing the LF bearing was changed AT a Jag dealer 11 months ago...
But the dealer says to shove it.. that they will not honour the warranty.
Furthermore they are reluctant to change the bearing anyway.. the insist on changing the entire knuckle which happens to include the bearing in it.
They say that I need a new knuckle ... even though they have not inspected it.
They are not open to discussion.. they will not warranty the failed bearing.. and they will only install new knuckles.. at huge expense. they have quoted over 500 dollars each side for parts.. plus taxes.. plus installation.. the repair will cost about 2 thousand dollars....
and this is for a failed bearing - that failed already prematurely and was replaced BY JAGUAR.. seemingly with a defect in workmanship or material or in the installation.
I am totally beside myself on this. WHAT HORSESHIT this company is.. they should have all rights to sell cars revoked in the developped world..

this is my response to the service manager..
There is no reference in the entire jaguar JTIS that says that changing the bearing is an improper fix.. there is no reference that says that it is a better fix to change the entire knuckle. There are plenty of references to using the proper tools and installing the replacement bearing in the right direction.
I am getting slightly frustrated here.. Glen says the knuckle is worn out.. but is a non-wearing part. That makes no sense to me.
I see that there was some machine shop work done to the knuckle the last time the bearing was changed. It is not clear what this was.. was the knuckle damaged by Gemini motors? did that work compromise the life of the bearing?
For sure the labour to change the entire knuckle is less that to change the bearing. I don’t think that the price of the extra labour is as much as the extra money for the parts. Correct me if this is wrong. Certainly Gemini Motors made that decision in the past.
I don’t want to sound like I am accusing anyone of intentional wrong doing or anything.. I just don’t think that throwing thousands of dollars at a car that is depreciating at that rate every month makes any sense. I own this car because I am knowledgeable enough to deal with the high level of failures that the Jag will experience.
Jaguar as a company has had 5 years to learn about these cars from bumper to bumper and Now as they all start to come off warranty, the dealer’s role is changing. Your entire experience with X type has been with cars that are on warranty. The job so far has been to sell Service to you customers, to make the ownership a good experience. Now that the cars are not free to repair, the dealer is now selling Expertise, technical competence. Now is the time to get these cars onto their second stage of life and keep them reliable AND economical to own and operate.
The only logical thing to do with my lemon is to scrutinize the failures. Analyze everything with a fine toothed comb and try to make decisions to end the financial bleeding this car is causing me.
I have already spend 2 thousand dollars on repairs on this car in 3 months of ownership, it is entirely unacceptable and Jaguar needs to be deeply aware of how their products are performing.
My complaints are not with Land rover of London,,, whenever I say you I don’t mean Lydia, I mean Jaguar, the dealers…the company

there is no question the bearing are shot.
I strongly believe that JAG should stand behind the bearings that failed. That is what i am fighting for.
I will wait 2 more days until Jag Canada customer comes up with their response ( they promised 2 biz days) then make a decision
the bearings are 45 each online. the knuckle (including the bearings) are 160 each.
I can repace the knuckes myself, have the job done in an afternoon, in my own garage.
I could bring the old knuckles and new bearing to a machine shop and have them changed, overall save a few dollars.
I need to make a decision. I am still waiting for shipping quoted for the parts to be sure what I have to pay.
If I end up doing it myself i will certainly doccument the job, maybe video it.
THe bearings have a mark on them and need to be installed the right way . IfI find that they were installed backwards... there will be hell to pay. Small claims court here I come hahaha...

We/I posted a message on bearings just a few weeks back, see if you can find it...go info on wheel bearings and why they go bad and why the new replacements go bad only after a year or so...

Yeah racer, it's all their fault......lol
Jeez, my Saab 93 has just had 2 wheel bearings, new front shocks, new drivers seat base and cover, and new wheel bolts too, all under warranty, no probs.
Don't mean to rub it in Bo, honestly.
