Default When filling diesel, keeps clicking

You know when you have filled your tank up then it starts clicking and you can still put some more in.... Well basically, even when my tank is on reserve, everytime I go to fill up with diesel, it constantly makes that clicking noise then I have to release and then press again. I mean it fills fine because when I have finished the fuel gauge goes up where it normally does. I can only avoid the clicking when I press the lever very gently and hold it. But If I press the lever with more pressure or fully press it, it keeps clicking.. Any ideas..?

I find that to prevent the pump nozzle cutting out, I simply rotate the nozzle so that the nozzle 'elbow' points a little towards the rear of the car.

Had to do that sometimes depending on filling station in my 3.0 petrol too (rotate dispensing handle 90 degrees)
