When to replace front shocks and mounts?

When to replace front shocks and mounts?
I have recently had the front links on my car replaced and it has tremendously helped with some strange noises and ride quality.
I am hearing some a noise when turning ocassionally still like a groan, which I am assuming is the strut mount and bearing.
At what point do these typically go out? My car has 60K miles, but age obviously takes its toll.
Should I just go ahead and replace the front shocks, mounts and bearings? Or is it too soon on a 60k mile car

Depends of course on what sort of life the car has had.
Mine here in the UK with similar mileage has recently had an inspection and the whole suspension system is perfect.
It has however had a very gentle like.
I recently did have a groan on the steering which foxed me for a bit. turned out to be a broken spring. just the last bit broken off.
Just have it checked over by an independent expert.

well there is definitely something making noise, so something is going on- if the car is roped and I turn the wheels it makes the noise.....I may life with it for a bit, but I will probably start collecting parts to get it all done

Spike, the general rule that I use is what I refer to as the 3 rebound test. Park your car on a flat surface. Now, using your body weight, push down on a corner of the car and count the number of times it rebounds up. If you are at 3 or less, then you are good. If you are in the 5+ range, probably time to replace the shocks/struts. Otherwise, unless it is making some noise or you are seeing oil leaking down the side of the shock, it is good and let things be.

Spike, when doing the bounce check, simply open the hood and watch the top of the strut. If you see movement, then it is time to replace the strut bearing. No movement, it is good unless it is groaning to beat the band. if you are replacing the struts, then replacing the bearing is a good idea. But, unless one is bad, I would not worry about it.

I have brand new bearings in my storage that where meant for my old flooded X type, but I guess I need to get new struts and mounts since everything has to come out anyway. If it was not so hard to get those things out I would just change the mounts and the bearings.
