Default who drifts their x type in the snow?

So it snowed quite a bit today here in colorado and I went out after the snow had let up to have myself a little bit of sliding fun! I don't really want this thread to turn into everyone telling me I'm going to blow up my xcase because I understand the risks, but why would I buy an awd car and then not use it? Just trying to figure out who has a little bit of fun with their cars in the snow!

I do, ALL THE TIME. While a lot of the time I do it just for plain fun, the other time I do it get practice driving it beyond the limits of traction. The practice has helped me recover from some nasty slides before.

My Blizzaks are grippy enough to maintain control for the most part, but I'll break all four loose in a few S-curves around my house. The nice thing is that people are afraid to drive here in the snow (people rarely buy snow tires here), so at night/weekends the road is practically all mine.

I do. Since this is my first snow with it, I wanted to get a feel for it. It's also been 10+ years since I've driven a manual shift in the snow.

Having a wonderful time with both.

No opportunities. Winter has been cancelled here in NJ for this year.

(I've just jinxed us here in the northeast USA. We're all doomed!)

To do this, won't you have to turn the stability control off? Cuz otherwise won't the car try to interfere with what you're trying to do?

Last winter i took the x drifting on accident. It was icy and somebody stopped at the bottom of the hill and i started to slide. I knew i wouldnt stop in time so i had to drift around them while also avoiding a pole. The x pulled it out just like in a movie.

I enjoy sliding like a **** in the rain... My X doesn't have traction control (which is for pussies anyway).

I've found that since I switched from Nexen N3000s to Falken FK452s my car grips a LOT better in the wet, so I have to really want to break them loose. With the old Nexens my rear would break free even if I didn't necessarily want it to.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having fun with my car in the snow!

I actually love my stability control on my 02 sport. I have been running low profile summer tires all the way through the winter and with stability control on, I don't slip one bit! I even took it up to the mountains through a blizzard and got only minor slippage while watching 4x4 trucks slide left and right! The thing is as soon as I take traction control off for city driving (more fun,) my car feels like it is wearing ice skates . I swear by this stability control system and really love it!

I play with my car all the time. I tend to make sweeping corners and then play with the car some letting it slide. But, for the most part, I am doing this to get a feel for just how slick the roads are. Granted, it is fun getting to stretch what the car can really do and keep it all under control at the same time.

2005 and up X-Types are essentially one wheel drive without traction control in slick conditions.

I honestly never thought an AWD car could be so much fun in the snow.

Stable and even a bit heroic UNTIL the traction control is turned off... Then the fun begins!

Love it!

I have a blast in snow up to about 6", but sometimes you have to pick a vehicle you can still see under!

I'm very glad to hear that people are actually putting their awd systems to good use! For me, if the x type didn't have awd, it wouldn't be in my garage :P
