I'm not sure that the 7.5mm will be an issue (although an odd size for 18's) as much as you'll need to make sure they are 17's, 18's or 19's with a bolt pattern of 5x108 or 5x4.25. Original Equipment, I believe, was 17x7.5 if you have a base model. Sport and VDP went up to 18x8. I believe you can go as much as 19x8.5 though, but anything bigger and you'll likely encounter rubbing and issues with speedometer accuracy. The tire needs to be smaller the bigger you go to maintain accurate speed readings. On the X the smaller the tire (i.e. 40, 35,30 etc...) it seems the more likely you are to go through tires from what I've read. Maybe changing the springs helps, but the car is heavy so you'll have a lot of weight sitting on low pro tires and I'd imagine you won't be happy when you hit a pothole and the tire blows out or the rim gets warped. My opinion is that if you are lowering it, don't go bigger than 18's since with that you'll still have reasonable clearance and good tire wear. You'll also want to probably go with 215x40x18 or 235x40x18 tire wise. This is just my opinion and I am by no means an expert in rims and tires. I'm looking at the TSW Silverstones with Silver finish for mine and I've done a little bit of research, so my feedback is essentially based on that. And what I've read on this forum. Hope this helps!

The standard Jaguar 18 inch wheels are only 7.5 inches wide for the X-type (they're 8 inches wide on the S-Type), PCD 5x108, Center bore 63.4, Offset 52.5. Standard Tire size 225/40R18
