Default Wind noise

I bought an X-type last autumn and just got around to respraying it and replacing the driver's side mirror that was damaged with one from a wrecker's yard. As soon as I got the car back, I started hearing some really wierd wind noises from the mirror at about 100 kmh and over. Has anybody else had this problem ?

It's normal, and the X-Type isn't the most noise insulated car either.

Take it off and have a look underneath where it mounts. Make sure everything is flat and correct, if not the wind will whistle under the mirror at speed. Usually when the mirror gets pranged it bends the mounting points a bit. I had a car that I had to apply a bit of silicone to the mounting point because the noise made me nuts. My car is pretty quiet at 100K.
