Default Windshield replacement

Anyone have their windshield replaced? I was just quoted $580.00 installed with the rain sensor.

Seems steep? Any thoughts or experience?

where did you get the quote from? normally windshields should be in the $200-$250 range installed. I had to get 2 windshields fixed in about 2 months with an 07 rav4 and an 85 volvo. I took them both to safelite and they were honest about what needed to be done and charged me around $200 for each. If I am correct, the rain sensor is actually not attached to the windshield, but instead sits behind the glass because this is what the rain sensor looks like: 2001-2008 Jaguar X-Type Rain Sensor | eBay

Either way, I would look around because that seems like you might be paying money for a windshield that you don't need.

I had to rerplace one...with my "03 sport. Insurance sent me to Brite-Glass...I paid NO deductable, and they do a good job. I have both Nav, and rain sensing...I don't see that module. The grid in the glass is bigger in area than the older one was...

Someone should check the price on a Lincoln LS windshield since that would probably be the closest domestic comparison (the LS is the kiss'n cousin of the S-Type and they all share Ford components like the X-Type)?

I bet they will be pretty pricey too, since they'll have the heating elements in the glass like lots of Ford products including the X-Type.

I ended up calling around and found it for $325 from a place that's done good work for me before. So now I'm getting my work van and my cat done for $525 out the door. That's a big difference.
