Default Wipe your wipers

You all know that sound..that annoying stuttering groaning skipping sound your wipers make when the glass ain't quite wet enough and it's only drizzling....Don't rush out and buy a new set of wiper blades just yet..take a clean cloth and soak it partially with Rubbing Alcohol...then pinch the wiperblade in the soaked cloth and wipe the entire length of the blade edge a couple of times...repeat on other the blade with a clean side of the cloth...Worked for me.

Pardon if this has been posted before

The Exterior, Interior and Detailing sections as well as the Audio/Video areas just don't get the traffic and posts that they deserve. I saw this and said to myself..."hey, perfect post for the Exterior, or Detail". But then again, unless you have lots of subscribed areas like me, many wouldn't see it. You're a good sport Dennis for letting me give you some general grief.[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]

Yeah nice one Dennis
I use white Spirit myself with a little on a rag and go over the blade a few times, and then again with a clean one just for good measure. It takes all the fuel / oil spillages that get thrown up from the traffic in front of you off and generally revitalises them, albeit only for a short term. It certainly helps with visibility though.

I'd rather see where I was going than where I'd been!

What kind of wipers are you guys using? OEM? I bought some Rain-X Latitude wipers and they work great. No streaks and constant pressure on the windshield

Doesn't matter Gotti

Over time the rubbers will lose their suppleness and also pick up fuel / oil deposits such as grease etc etc from the road left by the cars in front of you. Especially in wet weather the rain / mist etc will hold these particles which will inevitably over time load themselves onto your wiperblades, hence the misty / foggy look.
A quick clean with white spirit or similar every once in a while will help to maintain their effectiveness for a little longer whilst aiding visibility too.

Recommendations for Windshield Wiper Maintenance, Cleaning and Use:
1. Scheduled Maintenance
Check wiper rubber blades every 4 -- 6 months or 7,500 miles for wear, cracking
and contamination.
Clean glass and rubber wiper blades if blades are not clearing glass adequately.
If this does not correct the problem, then replace the rubber elements.
Cleaning Procedure
Wiper Rubber: Bugs, dirt, sap and road grime on blades will cause streaking.
Clean wiper rubber of road and environmental debris using cloth or paper towel
soaked with windshield washer fluid or mild detergent.
DO NOT USE fuel, kerosene, or petroleum based products to clean rubber wiper
blades.
Windshield: Bugs, road grime, sap and car wash wax treatments decrease wiper
performance.
Rinse windshield with water and apply non--abrasive cleaner, such as Bon--Ami
(www.faultless.com), with a sponge.
NOTE:
Make sure to use plenty of water with all powder based cleaners so the glass is
not scratched.
WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADE MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
3. Contributors to Poor Performance/Decreased Rubber Blade Life (require
rubber replacement)
Dusty areas cause the rubber edge to wear quickly.
Sand and salt used for road conditioning during winter causes the edge to
wear quickly, so areas with significant snowfall require more frequent
wiper replacement.
Heat and time cause the rubber to become excessively .permanent set,. so
the rubber does not turn over, resulting in streaking and/or unwiped areas on
the glass.
Rubber is easily cut or torn while using ice scrapers on the glass.
Rubber can be torn when pulling blades off a frozen windshield.
Using wipers instead of an ice scraper to remove frost and ice from the windshield
during a car warm up can dull, nick, or tear the rubber.
Banging wiper on the glass to remove ice & snow can cause the blade to bend
and rubber to come out of the blade providing the potential to scratch the glass.
Ice forms in wiper blade pin joints, which causes streaking and unwiped areas. To
remove ice from pin joints, compress the blade and rubber with your hand to
loosen the frozen joints. To prevent this condition, use winter blades with a
rubber cover.

Thankd Caddie....lol

Its just basic info that I'm sure most people are aware of anyway. Most of its common snse I think to be fair, but hopefully it'll give a few pointers to the odd owner or two
