I am trying to buy the aero wipers online for my X-Type 2.0D 2003 Saloon/Sedan.

The problem is that I measured the drivers side (actual blade) to be 19.5 inches and the passengers side (actual blade) 16.5 inches. But everywhere I look it says the size for my car is 22 inches for the drivers side and 19 inches for the passengers side. Whats going on..?

 

Aftermarket vs OEM..usually there is a slight difference.

On my X-type the OEM blades are:

21 3/4" P/N C2S13421

18 3/4" P/N C2S13422

Maybe you can use these numbers to cross reference to an aftermarket blade like Bosch.

 

Aftermarket or not, wherever I look, if I search vehicle specific, it always comes back 19 and 22 inches which is more than a bit off compared to 16.5 and 19.5 inches.

 

What is easy to see, is that someone in the past, might of been you, might of been a dealer, put on your car "the wrong size blades" period, let's move on now....the correct size for the X is what I posted above..but when you round up the demension (which is how it's done to avoid fractions), they are as you've been seeing...22" and 19"

 

Colt is correct in this. Someone must've put a cheap blade set on the car possibly thinking that a Ford Taurus Setup would do the job. If you do put on the correct size, you will DEFINITELY see an improvement in vision area and also cleanliness of the windscreen itself. Take it from a former Ford owner, get the stuff it SAYS to get. Wiper blade manufacturers look at the OEM books to determine these things.
