Default Wood

I am replacing a piece of wood in my 2003 Jaguar X Type, but I can't figure out what wood it is. The dealer has a choice of bronze, walnut, or grey stained wood. My car is birds eye maple and the dealer thinks it is the bronze wood, but I have seen several cars that have light almost yellow wood and mine is not Like that. It is a medium brown. Is this bronze or walnut wood? Was the walnut birds eye maple but stained darker?

A good picture would probably help the most in someone being able to identify what you have.

The dealer's offer is about right according to the original UK brochures. Original choices here were Bronze Stained Sapele, Grey Stained Birds Eye Maple and Burr Walnut. The Walnut was only available on the Sovereign model. There was also Piano Black and Carbon Fibre in the Sport models.

Choices may have been different in US as yours does look like Birds Eye Maple, probably Bronze, I would suggest.

Thanks. Am I going to have a hard time finding a matching piece? I have read that jaguar wood is matched set. I think it will be a little darker because mine might have faded, but I'm concerned about the grain.

You could always check out Ebay or shoot a PM to Dr Dome on here.

I am also parting out the interior of mine, so I'll check to see if it is a match. As Paulc732 said, Dr. Dome also has a few that he is parting out as well. I'll send you a message if it looks the same.

Is there any way to clean the wood? I used water and a microfiber towel and wiped gently and I think even that it scratched it.

You can't clean the wood itself as there is a clear coating on top of it. If you have fine scratches in it you might try polishing them out.

Why are you replacing one of the pieces anyway?

I mean what is a way to clean it without scratching it? I am replacing it because it is deeply scratched.
