have a 2002 x-type, can i buy a x-type cd-player from every year (2001-2007)?

I'd double check that the in-dash CD player is "all the same" for all year models.

It's known for a fact that the 6 disc CDC is very much VIN specific. The same may apply to an in-dash CD upgrade for the older models. Your local dealer or a used parts shop like Coventry West in Georgia may be able to help (and could sell you a used CD deck too).
