Worn sway bar bushings

Worn sway bar bushings
Several months ago when I made a turn I can hear clunking noise sometimes. I took it in a local shop and they told me it was from front sway bar bushings. There was some play around bushings. But they refused to replace them saying it is a time-consuming job. Now it seems that the problem gets bigger as I can clearly hear noise when run over bumps. So my question: is it safe to drive a car with worn sway bar bushings? If not, is there an easy way to get them replaced? I did some search but the JTIS procedures seem quite complicated. Thanks for your help!

yeeran, look at a website called Energy Suspensions (Energy Suspension Parts Dealer, Specializing in Energy Suspension Bushings Suspension Components.). On that site you can look at the various bushings that they offer and you should be able to take a few measurements and get a bushing set that will work for you. Replacing them shouldn't be that bad if all that you have to do is loosen the mounts and slide in the new bushings. The bushings are going to be split, so, you can slide them over the bar and then down the bar into position. From there, you can reapply the clamp and be all done.
As for safety, you may notice a little bit more roll from the car. But, for general driving, not anything that you will have to live in fear of. More noise than anything else.
