A good source of parts is to reach out to Dr Dome. He is a forum member that parts out x-types and see if he has what you need. Call or text 484-903-4813.

Tried him yesterday lol. Didn’t have any. I’m looking for oem kit or even an aftermarket hid kit for my H1 low beam headlight. Does anyone know of a good kit that fits well and requires no cutting. Thx.

NYC Jag, I have done some HID kits to X-Types. What I will tell you is that most of the aftermarket kits are not what they are cracked up to be. Spent a little bit of money and make sure to get a kit that will last. I have bought a Xentec kit, great for the first year, but then the ballasts started going out about every year there after. If you can, find a company called "Maxlux". They are the OEM for most major manufacturers and from my experience, once you put in this kit, you will never touch it again. Now, you will need to drill a single hole (3/4") to get a bushing to allow wires to go from inside to outside and outside to inside to make the HIDs work. There simply is not enough room for an aftermarket kit to fit in there. But, if you get the H1 bulb kit, it will plug and plug for the most part, the only wiring modification that you will need to do is cut the plug off the wire that goes to the back of the standard bulb and install a butt connector there (make sure to seal this up good, I recommend using some stuff call Raychem, you will need the size that they refer to a WCSF-050). This heat shrink will make the wire essentially water proof. if you are worried about this stuff surviving the heat from under the hood/inside the headlight housing, DON'T. I use this stuff to survive a nuclear reactor meltdown. It will survive under the hood of your car. You will also need to take the ground wire and bolt it to the frame of the car. Probably the hardest part of this mod is simply finding a place to mount the ballast. But, with the front bumper cover off of the car, it will be fairly easy to find a spot and mount it.

The other thing that you will need to give some thought to is the color of HID bulb you want. There are pros and cons to the various colors. If you look up "Thermo HID bulb colors", you should find a few posts where I have gone into a lot of detail about HIDs, what wattage you need, and what the pros/cons are of the various colors of HID bulbs.

Thermo. What do u think about a led bulb that has the original H1 base so it would mount up just like a standard halogen bulb. I read that some led headlight bulbs are not any better or brighter then the halogen ? What do u think

NYC, I have not played with aftermarket LED bulbs as headlights. I just bought a 2020 Nissan Altima that has LED headlights and they are just as good as the HIDs I had put in the Ford Fusion. But, when it comes to aftermarket, there are a ton of variables there that short of buying a set of LED bulbs and seeing what happens, I can't be of much assistance.

If you are after a Maxlux kit, check out https://www.desertcart.us/products/238286959. It would appear that they are becoming hard to find and they may have gotten out of the aftermarket business. If it is worth anything, I would say to get the 5000k lights as you will get maximum light and have a white appearance, second would be the 6000K (a bit more white, almost with a slight blue tint, but you loose a little bit in brightness), and then third, the 4300K (more the color of your current halogen bulbs, but they have the most light of all the HIDs out there). Granted, I think it may say something that they went out of business because their product was just that good. I ran the Maxlux on the wife's car for 5 years with no issues.

Looking at reviews and whatnot, if you can't find Maxlux, then I would be looking at either DDM or Innovited HID kits. yes, they run a bit more than say Xentec, but there is a reason for that. Big thing is when you are putting in the bulbs, NEVER!!!!! touch the glass bulb. That glass should be sparkling clean when it gets into the headlight housing. Any sort of material on the glass will create a hot spot and shorten the life of the bulb.

Hi NYC
I tried a variation of HIDs and LEDs at the front and ended up going back to the original halogen setup, the problem with LEDs is theres no real standard format to measuring their output, and unscrupulous sellers will boast all types of nonsense to sell inferior bulbs. I bought a set of H1 direct replacement LEDs 34000 lumens but that was total output both bulb output measured together, they were ok but no way did they improve visibility, if anything worsened and flattened the beam. I then invested in a pair of 100watt halogen 6K but they would only be able to draw 55watts as I didn't want to alter the wiring to them and didn't look 6k slightly yellow so again a useless exercise. I merely wanted to match up the LED side lights (which did make a marked improvement and would recommend getting them) with the headlights, so ended up getting warm white LEDs for the side which work well with the standard H1 bulb
Hope that helps
