Default X Series head light bulbs HELP!

Jaguar X Series 2002}
I am indeed slow understanding the headlights! {Canadian /Scottish Twit}
........bright sunny days don't help!

If the two small bulbs in the inner headlight are the running lights? these are OK! {automatically on with start up} but also automatically on with start up are what I think are the "low beam headlight bulbs?" {outer headlight /inner bulb} one of these has gone {bulb /fuse?) I can reach it but it is not coming out easily ...seems stuck in the electrical lead socket?

Question....
as Thermos says it looks like a *HID bulb with the coil up the length of the bulb .....SHOULD THE LOW BEAM AND THE DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS COME ON AUTOMICALLY AT START UP?....LOW BEAM seems to stay on?

re "low beam headlight bulbs?" *High Intensity Discharge (HID) Xenon light units, type D2S 35W
Any source to buy a replacement bulb.. on line $45-$150!

WHAT IS THE CORRECT BULB FOR LOW BEAM?

Since the help on your other post for this problem wasn't of help, how about taking a picture and posting so we can help sort it out.

Jaguar X Series year 2002 low beam headlight bulbs are HID…………{daytime running in Canada}
The other headlight bulbs are HI

X-TYPE BODY SYSTEMS
High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlights (continued)
Xenon Lamp

WARNING: Electrical voltages of up to 30kV are possible at the xenon lamp; therefore, suitable
safety precautions must be observed. Refer to JTIS.
The 35-watt xenon lamp produces a beam with an
intensity that is approximately two times that produced
by a halogen lamp of the same wattage. The chamber
of the bulb contains xenon gas and a mixture of metal
halide salts.

High voltage (typically 20kV) ignition is provided by the
xenon lamp control module and an arc forms in the
chamber as the gap between the two electrodes is
bridged. After ignition there is warm-up period of
approximately 3 seconds, during which the metal
halide salts evaporate. This brief excess-current phase
is followed by stabilization of the arc and the regulation
of the lamp output at 35W by the ballast control module
in each headlamp assembly.

NOTE: Unlike conventional lamps, xenon lamps
do not deteriorate and so should last the lifetime
of the vehicle.??? However, as xenon lamps age,
the color tone of the light will change from blue
to white.
