Default X-TYPE 2.0 petrol, 2002 power fail

my 2002 2.0 petrol x-type has started running out of power, total lack of power and misfiring, comes and goes but no engine management light? can drive ok for 100 miles then no power when in gear, knock it into neutral and rev it's fine can't drive faster than 20 mph, any ideas????

turns out it's the fuel pump needing replaced, looks like a long weekend then!!

finally got the fuel pump replaced, and rather than dropping the tank down we made the whole larger under the rear passenger seat, also replaced the fuel filter which is a vauxhall part, car running smooth now, just need to source a rear caliper, i've heard that they're the same as a Mondeo estate can anybody confirm this?
