x-type 2.0d power loss/MIL
Hi,
the MIL on my 04 2.0d se lit at 88k. I took the car to an independant garage to have the fault code read. The fault was "MAF malfunction". I replaced the MAF and the light remained on. The car also deleloped intermittant power loss between 1500 & 2000rpm. Under heavy acceleration this power loss is normally accompanied by black smoke. The car also tends to stall for no apparent reason at junctions. In addition it sounds slightly louder than normal under load. In addition to replacing the MAF i have also removed and cleaned the egr valve. There is no apparent problem with the turbo or it's pipe work (no whistles and no oil consumption). Fuel economy for a combined cycle (and i have a heavy foot) is generally 42 - 45 mpg average over a full tank. I also use premium brands of diesel. I have noticed two things under the bonnet that concern me: 1. There is some type of sensor on the hose from the intercooler to the egr that looks dirty/corroded. 2. several earth points on the inner wings look corroded. Have check the connections at the MAF and they look fine. Any ideas??
Thanks
