Default x type 2-2d sport estate 2005 starts then cuts out if you apply the revs to pull away

used the car the day before 200 mile trip did not miss a beat
next morning car starts went to pull away but as the revs increased over 1000rpm it stalled , thought it was me being clumsy
restarted same again ...now noticed the dreaded engine symbol was on !
tried 4/5 times no joy .
disconnected the ground terminal off the battery for 2/3 minutes ....try anything stage
restarted still the same , but while sitting with the ignition on scratching my head i noticed that the temperature gauge was right over in the RED but the engine was stone cold
as it had only been actually running for one minute ...weird one .
nothing makes sense ..and i am pretty stuck
time to ring the AA
AA bloke starts it stalls it 4/5 times ...then removes the ground terminal for 2/3 minutes ...i am just letting the professional get on with it .
he sticks his code reader on ....comes back as cylinder head temperature sensor fault ?
he clears the codes and she starts and excepts the throttle being applied .thats it for him as iam gratefully mobile again ...but with this issue hanging over me .and it happened again .
looked on line readily available £30 to £45, though i would check with jaguar in Bristol they had one in stock £25 shock .
the sensor is well hidden right hand side of the engine bay (battery side ).
the task to replace is fiddly but not requiring a great deal of macanical skills .
it is positioned behind the power steering /water pump pully .so a few pipes to the turbo and air filter box to remove and the belt cover .
i now find that you NEED a special 15mm socket with a slot in it ..looked at grinding a slot into my long reach 15mm .
but found that laser tools do one for £9...its half inch drive so i used a reducer so i could use it with slimmer extension bar off my 3/8 th set
as you need to extract the sensor through the holes in the pulley , just put it in gear an rock it back and forth to get the slot in the best position ..
you will discover that the terminal plug does not fit through any space between the engine and the pulley wheel .so dont forget to feed the sensor probe in first from the top NOT through the hole in the pulley .sounds obvious but it made me think twice
the probe is made of brass so go gentle when getting the threads to line up .or you could be stuffed before you start .
only took 20 minutes ...but dont start without the special tool .
problem has not happened again since
hope this helps someone out
