Default X-type anti-roll bars?

Hey guys, just bought a 2007 x-type estate 2.2d
love the car, but would love it far more if it didn't roll so much cornering

any ideas on how to reduce this? I'd heard that they don't do anti-rolls bars for the x-type?

Thanks
ian

Ian, there are no aftermarket anti-sway bars that I am aware of. As for body roll, mine doesn't roll hardly at all. have you made sure that you haven't broken the rods for the sway bar? That could cause what you are feeling and then it would be an easy fix. The rear rods are prone to breaking.

Ah great thanks for getting back to me Chris
I'll drop it into a dealer to check or is it an easy spot?

Ian, if you can get under the car, it will be very easy to spot. Just locate the sway bar and follow it all the way to the lower A-arms. If you can make it all the way to the top nut and not scrape yourself on something, then odds are things are doing good.

The other thing that I will tell you to take a look at is the mounts where the swaybar is mounted to the body. Some members have actually had these fail and that could also lead to what you are feeling. Again, this is a very easy thing to spot as you will see the angled metal bracket and near the 90 degree bend, you will see where the metal has sheered/cracked.

Ian, it will be easy once you get under the car. You will see the 7/8" bar running from side to side. You will also see the vertical posts that I talked about earlier. As for the supports for the sway bar, those are really easy as they are the two big bulges that are wrapped around the sway bar. When you get under the car, it will make a lot more sense.

Then you don't drive it hard enough.

I must admit though, after swinging it hard round a few roundabouts it dint roll as much as I previously imagined
Maybe I should just stop comparing it to my Cupra
