Default X-type boot wont open

Ok, this morning I open the boot on my X-type, put my bag inside, close it, drive the 10 miles home and when I get there the boot won't open! Not even any noise as if its trying to open

Anyone got any ideas on how I get into the boot?

TIA

John

try the manual open leaver inside the trunk...you have to fold the seats and get in the trunk that way...it glows in the dark so you should be able to find it easily.

Aren't you pretty much screwed if the trunk doesn't open because to get the rear seats to fold down you have to pull the release that is in the trunk. And if you can't get in your trunk........bad bad design.......

Saloon is the civilized way to say "sedan". Estate is the station wagon. You Brits use such cool words.....I like "******" too.

I agree w/ Alfadude...having to get into trunk to release the rear seats is a crap design since it leaves you stuck if the trunk doesn't open to begin with.

Ok, so I knew what saloon and estate meant, but what's "******"?

My car doesn't even have folding rear seats

Not being able to fold the rear seats from inside the passenger cabin is a safety and security feature on a significant number of european cars. It stop childrens little fingers pressing buttons in the back of the car and putting themselves in danger because they have released the seat back from its clips! For security it also denies thieves who steal from cars fast access to the boot (sorry trunk ).

Anyway, took the car to the dealer, they plugged it into a diagnostic machine and got the boot open in seconds! Charged me £85 for the privilege though!
