Jaguar owner, Last night me and my boys were watchin the bball game Bulls vs Boston and i got in to a heated conversation. My boys debted that the X-type is more of a female car and the S-type is more a man car. I'm bring this up cause income tax is around the corner and im planing to get an x-type

 

Just the opposite!
I have seen more females driving S-Types!

 

I dislike such generalizations male vs female car regarding Jaguar . However there are some cars scream they're made for females , examples : pink Nissan Micra, smart lol

 

I always thought it was until I saw a sport model... Which I ended up buying.

But really, Jaguar has always had hints of femininity in its design language. Women are beautiful creatures and so are Jaaags so I don't think it's a bad thing.

If you're worried about that I would veer towards a model that has more black (exterior or interior).

 

In stock and base form I think it is, at least here in the Pacific Northwest. My guess if that the husband - typically a tradesman or otherwise in need of a pickup truck - buys a truck and gets his wife an X-Type. I don't think the S-Type is immune to this. If a younger couple, once they have a couple of kids, the X- or S-Type is traded for an SUV (Lexus RX or Audi Q5/7), minivan or Prius. If an older couple, the X- or S-Type is kept longer.

The X-Type Sport models and S-Type R's are more tending to male cars in general.

 

There are about a handful of X-Types here in Ann Arbor, and me and another guy are the only males driving them. The rest are all women.

The X-Type can be seen as a more feminine car because it's the baby of the Jaguar range. Women tend to go for the smaller car and this applies to other makes as well. BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class, Lexus IS, etc.

 

No not female i have the sport trim all one color no chrome looks way more sporty. This car is faster than most cars in its class the 3.0. ive heard of old man but not female like i said i only buy sport finish!

 

I agree with the idea that in stock form they do look like a little more feminine. I think to get the true sporty jag look you have to have to at least have to sport package and a couple other small mods.

 

Ummm. Yeah. It's kinda considered a feminine car. I think mostly because of it's size and it's little features it pulls from the XJ. I see mostly women and men with rainbow stickers driving them. Ours was my wifes, and I'm only driving it until my daughter get her license next year.

There is truly no such thing as a Men's car or a Woman's car, it is just perception. I do not go by other people’s view of a car that I am interested in! If you all are worried about peer problems, just go with the perceptions of others and don't get what you truly want.

Greatest example of a <not> female car was one a saw at a classic auto show. It was a ~68 Plymouth Fury two door convertible, pale blue, white interior. It had power windows, A/C, the works. Looked like a car a doctor's wife would drive to the country club to lunch...

Except it had two sewer pipe-sized pipes exiting under the rear bumper and little chrome badges on the fenders right in front of the doors.

They said Hemi...

There was no one around to ask and no explanation of its history, but it sure seemed like a mistake to me. I always imagined that said doctor's wife checked the wrong box on the options list when ordering and ended up with the 426 instead of the 318. After all, I bet the stock motor was a "slant-six" and a V8 had to be ordered.

Boy was she in for a surprise...

I'm a dude, just bought an x type, and I'll tell you what..I love it...I could care less if it was an old ladies car...This car ROCKS!

 

Completely agree. Although, I'll add to this since no one has yet addressed the issue. In the ilk of "Gone in 60 Seconds," the car itself is a female.
