Default X-Type has Small buzzing in cockpit when keys are not in column.

Is this normal or Common....My jag had a low level buzz/hum when its not turned on or keys in ignition...It does affect the battery or seem to get hot, but I am slightly concerned bout this before winter. As almost all issues I have had with cars electrical really are exagerated come winter time here in upstate/Albany NY area, our temps can drop to negative -25 below 0 F.
Can it be the antitheft? but I always hear it ,Car has only 56k miles its an 03 X-Type 2.5 automatic....The sound/buzz seems to be in the dash area so what can it be,should I worry?
Thanks folks Hope to hear back soon.....

Typo, the noise is coming from the right side of your steering column. If you look to the right of your steering column, you will see a very small vent (about 1x1" in size). If you put your ear near there, you will hear the buzz coming from there. That is a little fan that pulls in the interior air to determine what the interior temp is. This information is then sent to the A/C unit to maintain the interior temp.

This will run any time the door is open and for about 15 minutes there after. This has no negative effect on the battery or your ability to start the car. A normal part of the car.

People swear that the aspirator fan runs all the time because every time they open the door to check, sure enough, it is running! What no one has told them is that this fans starts running the instant the door handle is pulled and remains running until about 15 minutes after the engine is shut off - unless someone pulls the outside door handle again.
Perfectly normal. If anyone has an issue with this it is the Denso people who designed the system that should be consulted. Denso engineers the climate control systems also for Lexus and other high end cars, not just Jaguar.
