Default X type Jaguar compressor replacement procedure

Hello everyone,

Is there a official Jaguar procedure for replacing the compressor and the dryer? How much oil, etc to refill? I have a trusted A/C guy but I would like proper procedure to be followed. Too little or too much oil in a system can be problematic

There is a shop manual download link at the top of the x-type section. Should be in it.

Compressor was replaced today. OEM compressor went in with no problems. Orifice tube went in the with no problems. But of course when we got to the aftermarket dryer/accumulator, it would not fit. It's molded just differently enough that it would not fit. Old dryer had to be refitted until new one arrives. God I hate aftermarket parts- love their price- but hate this kind of crap.

Follow up question : AC seems to be working great with new compressor and re used dryer. I intend to order a new OEM dryer, but I am getting worried I'm operating the system with the used dryer

I any body try to cut out the AC dryer to see what is inside? If it's hollowed, nothing else but a aluminum bottle why can't we just reused it?

The purpose of the accumulator (accumulator is on the low side a receiver dryer is on the high side of the system) 1) to separate liquid from vapor refrigerant, 2) stores refrigerant when there isn't a heavy load on the system 3) remove water from the refrigerant, 4) control oil flow back to the compressor.
