Having limp mode problems with my 2004 x and i suspect it's the tps. it's held on to the throttle body with 2 torx screws. Problem is T15 is too small and T20 is too big. i've never seen t16 etc. is this a specialty size on the torx? Also, the throttle body had no gasket installed(Allthough it appears that it has never been removed) . Is this normal for this year and could it be a source of my problem?

 

scratch the gasket part. I see it (duh). thin o-ring style.

 

I've never seen a Torx size in between T15 & T20. I noticed there are Torx head screws holding the TPS on the TB. And on the other side of the TB, is it the IAC? Anyway, they all look like the same size Torx.

So, where did you get a TPS from? I went to the dealer today and they only sell the entire throttle body for $1,800, which comes with a tps!

 

I recently removed the TPS to clean it, because I too kept going into limp home mode. After the TPS was cleaned the problem never came back, and I hope it never does. It took my a while to find the right torx bit, because they are a 5 point star. I purchased these on Amazon and they worked perfectly.
