Default x-type wagon middle seatbelt retractor jammed

any thoughts on how to unstick it? rear seat, middle passenger, stuck in the fully retracted position. flipping seat forward, patting the seatback, nothing helps. i can't even figure how to open up the seatback!

here is a thrilling video of me fighting with the belt (spoiler alert: it wins)

Is that not because the seat back has not been properly locked in the upright position?

The manual states there is an interlock between the centre seat belt and the seat latch; if the catches are not locked correctly, the centre seat belt will not operate. Rather than the seltbelt being at fault it might be that the seat isn't locking properly. You might need to slam the seat back in place.

thanks for the hints. the seat is latching very nicely. no wiggle once it is latched. there are no obstructions. the latch button looks the same as on the other side. it seems like the interlock is broken?

Well I have tried a lot of slamming the rear seat. No luck. The latching mechanism seems perfect, so there must be an issue with the interlock. Getting a lot of open ended quotes from mechanics that sound really scary. I'd like to tack on my own. Has anyone disassembled a rear seat on one of these wagons?

Hi I know it's been over a year but were you able to resolve the center rear seatbelt issue? I have the same exact problem.

Thanks,

Left rear seatbelt may be wrapped around metal lug, preventing proper latching. Make sure left rear seatbelt is free from lug and close gently. Centre belt then functioned normally. Worked for me.
